In celebration of International Women’s Day, 2024, The Little Gallery presents, Perseverance:  A Tribute to Grace and Resilience, an exhibition showing a selection of works from regional artist, Vicki Idema.  This exhibition explores the artist’s use of clay and paper to illustrate and bring awareness to some of the social and environmental issues still affecting women and to highlight those who overcame obstacles to reach their goals.

In her rural studio in Soap Creek Valley, Vicki Idema uses paper and clay to illustrate women's social and environmental issues and to help bring our attention to individual women who deserve recognition.

After receiving a BFA from Colorado State University with a concentration in fibers, Vicki has continued to take classes and workshops to deepen and refine her craft and to expand her choices of media. After 40 years of working with textiles, she moved on to learn to draw the human form. Most recently, she attended Lane Community College to study figurative sculpture under Ellen Tykeson.

Whether it's hand carving paper with an exacto knife or molding clay, Vicki finds it rewarding to use the female form to highlight themes she feels passionate about. In both solo and group shows, her work has been featured in exhibitions throughout Oregon.
